Occupational Therapist: Children, Young People, and Families
I am an experienced Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of dedicated work supporting children and young people with mental health difficulties and neurodiversity.
Originally from Greece, I moved to the UK in 2002 after receiving a scholarship from Athens to complete an MSc in Paediatric Occupational Therapy at the University of East London, which I completed in 2004. Prior to that, I had already qualified and been working as an OT in Athens since 1999.
Since 2003, I have worked within the NHS, supporting children and young people facing complex mental health challenges. I have led the development and delivery of community mental health services in an East London borough and served as Head of School in an independent setting for children permanently excluded from mainstream education.
In 2020 I've built a practice with my passion for helping children and young people thrive. I focus on empowering individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, ADD, Dyspraxia, learning difficulties, emotional and behavioural disorders, and mental health needs.
I am trained in:
Sensory Integration (Basic Level)
ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition)
Standardised assessments for learning difficulties
RAID (Reinforce Appropriate, Implode Disruptive – a positive approach to managing challenging behaviour)
MOHO Model of Human Occupation
Model for Creative Ability
Canadian Model of Occupational Performance
KAWA Model for Mental Health Recovery
My therapeutic philosophy is rooted in possibility and potential. I don’t focus on limitations or diagnosis I focus on what each individual can do. My goal is always to enable, empower, and support young people to regain a sense of control, independence, and confidence in their everyday lives.
