Thank you for taking a moment to visit my page.

I am Dr Xia Feng, a HCPC-registered Counselling Psychologist, with over a decade of clinical training and experience. I specialise in supporting clients with emotional difficulties such as anxiety, depression, anger, feelings of emptiness and meaninglessness, as well as self-esteem issues, interpersonal conflicts, attachment difficulties, and complex trauma.

My journey in this field began in China in 2011, and I obtained a national counselling qualification in China in 2016 as part of my early professional development. In 2018, I moved to the UK to pursue a Master’s in Psychology, followed by a professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, which I completed between 2020 and 2025.

Over the years, I’ve received rigorous training in different therapeutic approaches, including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Humanistic and Existential Therapy. I have completed a year-long psychoanalytic courses through the Tavistock Clinic and the Institute of Psychoanalysis, undertaken at different stages of my professional development.

I've worked across a range of clinical settings over the past decade, including the NHS (primary and secondary care), psycho-oncology services, suicide crisis interventions, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services, in both public and private settings. Through my clinical training and professional experience, I’ve had the privilege of working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, religious belief systems, and life stages.

Alongside my professional training and experience, I have also engaged in long-term personal therapy myself, which supports my reflective practice and ongoing professional development.

There is a saying among therapists:
“You can’t take clients somewhere you haven’t been yourself.”

My own therapeutic journey has given me a deeper appreciation of life’s complexities and helped me to shift long-standing patterns in how I relate to myself and others. This continues to be a transformative process, and it shapes the way I sit with my clients today.

Healing and growth often begin with the courage to seek out and face the truth. It can be a very demanding path, one that asks for deep honesty and quiet bravery. Yet you do not have to walk it alone. If you choose, I will be here walking beside you as we explore, make sense of, and move forward together.

In my practice, I aim to create a space where you can feel safe and understood a space where someone is willing to stay with you in the places you feel stuck, support you through pain, and help you discover new ways of making sense of your struggles.
