Supporting someone who is feeling low

I love this depiction of how to be truly supportive when someone is feeling low. It can often feel overwhelming and unknown when a friend or family member is having a tough time. It is common for people to feel that they don't know what to say and that they need a "professional". However, as this picture so beautifully depicts, often just being with someone is enough, sitting with them and understanding that this is what you can offer can make all the difference. When we are feeling low, being told things will be ok can serve to make things worse and contribute to feeling less understood. Remembering the simple act shown in this cartoon can give you the tools you need to truly support someone you care about.
