"It seems to me that the good life is not any fixed state. It is not, in my estimation, a state of virtue, or contentment, or nirvana, or happiness. It is not a condition in which the individual is adjusted, fulfilled, or actualized….The good life is a process, not a state of being…It is a direction, not a destination. The direction…is that which is selected by the total organism, when there is psychological freedom to move in any direction" (Carl Rogers, 1961).

About Me & My Practice
Hi, I’m Piers, a Person-Centred counsellor. Creating a safe, non-judgmental environment where you feel comfortable exploring your thoughts and feelings is what I am here for. Together, we will work collaboratively to cultivate a trusting relationship built on mutual respect.
My approach emphasises genuine understanding, awareness, clarity, and acceptance, viewing each person as an individual with unique experiences and unique needs, with the intention of promoting self-empowerment, discovery of your inner self, and fostering personal growth.
This may not be an easy journey, yet I am here willing to work with you. By helping to facilitate your own process, helping you tap into your inner resources, I strive to ensure that you feel genuinely supported, seen, heard, and valued as you embark on this journey of self-discovery and healing.

My Journey
My first experiences of counselling others have been within the NHS, where I helped cultivate a secure and nurturing environment conducive to introspection and emotional exploration, facilitating personal growth through a flexible and empathetic approach.
Passionate about fostering inclusivity and diversity, and proficient in addressing the varying complexities of each unique client, I have experience providing essential support to individuals facing a variety of challenges, including trauma, PTSD, bereavement, OCD, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, work-related stress, and more besides.

First Steps
Let us first acknowledge that the first step can often be the most challenging. This process, or journey, you are about to embark on is one you need not face alone.

What to Expect
During the initial consultation, It's an opportunity for us to get to know each other, address any questions or concerns you may have, and, in essence, gauge whether it feels right for you. Going forward we’ll build on a therapeutic relationship based on trust and empathic understanding. I'll meet you where you are, without judgment, and accompany you on your journey of self-exploration and discovery.
Together, we may navigate your thoughts, emotions, and experiences, with the intention of empowering you to find your own path towards reconciliation, growth, and healing. You'll have the space to explore your concerns, gain insights, and work towards a deeper understanding of yourself.
Ultimately, my role is not to tell you what I think you should do, rather, to support and facilitate your process in finding your own solutions, and fostering a sense of autonomy and empowerment in your life that lasts beyond the therapy room, and beyond our time together.
